Montessori Beginnings- Preschool

Today was the first day they were able to get out a tray with an activity. I am going to have to find something for the younger girls to do they were all over their activity, crying that they wanted to play too. Any ideas. Would be great. I know we will get the hang of it.

They both took turns. I think I rushed when demonstrating. I had to go back and explain. F did really well with the nuts and bolts. She spoke out loud to herself as she put them in there places. C just liked pouring the water everywhere. We finished up that one. I should have been nicer. He was just goofing around. He wanted to pour milk. I told him he would have to show me he knew how. He did and then did a great job with the milk. I explained when he does it correctly he is showing me he is ready for bigger. He smiled and liked that.

Not just a sand and water table anymore

Today I cleaned out the sand and water table and added dry ingredients. Some stuff we haven't used in a while baby cereal, pancake mix, and some cream cereal.

Added some kitchen favorites and we all played together. I thought about adding some water. Just not today. F took my order and made it. Over heard C saying 3 cups flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar. Every time I need a cake he makes it. He can just about make a cake himself ( box cake that is)

Put them in.

Pour them out. Note her expression. Priceless. It's one of their favorite things to do as long as they don't do it together. Otherwise they just play tug a war.

What do you do when the rain finally stops?

Well you go play in all the water of course.

This is their mud bog hole full of water. C is standing in the middle.

F is getting a bowl to move the water. C says to her it's not going to work too many holes.

She was like but look how cool it is.

R is telling C to put the water in here using some words but more gestured. Glad C can pay attention to her wants.

R and T go right to work playing it the water he filled for them.

R and T wanted help getting in the water but then had no trouble doing it themselves.

So I did it I just started. I grabbed the colored rice we made the other day and mixed in some other stuff I found around, pom poms, cups, and those long medicine spoon things ( sorry don't know what it is called).

First I used a plastic table cloth, it was a thin one. It did not work well when they spilled it. Difficult to clean off. I then moved a rug that we just have to play and it worked well. I will be looking for an activity rug. This kind worked since all the kids wanted to play. I could not believe it no one tried to eat it. Amazing!

When the rice went out of the bin. I told the child who spilled it that they needed to stop and clean it up. T thought this was the end of the world cried and cried. She would try to play again and I would stop her and have pick up if a large amount fell out. F did a great job stopping to clean. She really liked the bin.

Montessori Beginnings- toddler

I have been reading and searching for things to with the younger. I will be posting what I do with them under toddler so it makes it easier to find what they are doing. They just turned 17 months. They are two days apart.

Pouring is what we are going to work on this week. We started with the colored rice yesterday and it went well. Today I am going to add pasta. Was also thinking some beans.
